Want to stay up-to-date with information about learning to drive, the driving
test, and road safety? The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) has published a video
on its YouTube channel which explains how to sign up, free of charge, for DSA
Direct email alerts. The DSA is encouraging learner drivers to sign up for the

Not sure whether to let your instructor come with you on test?  On test day,
your examiner will ask you if you would like your instructor to accompany you on
your driving test. Check out the link below and watch a video clip about the

Have you had your first fright? Well done, you've passed your driving test but
what now? The practical test will teach you all the elements you need to
operate the car safely, but what about joining and leaving the motorway or
when a giant lorry wants to overtake you, there is another driver tailgating you
or if the weather conditions are bad? Being on your own in a car once you have
past your test can be a very daunting experience. Especially going on the
motorway in an unmarked car (drivers are aware of your inexperience in the
learner car).

Have you considered Pass Plus? This course builds on existing skills and
experience, and could entitle you to a discount on your car insurance. The course
runs for a minimum of 6 hours and covers the following modules:
  • in town
  • rural roads
  • all weather
  • dual carriageways
  • motorways
  • night time driving
Pass Plus gives you that extra experience at a time when you are most likely to be
involved in an accident. The money you save on your car insurance could pay for
your Pass Plus course! (See Related Links for further information on Pass Plus)

The new Driving Instructors Association (DIA) web site will be launched in August
in which the 'Find a driving instructor' will be the main focus. As a DIA registered
ADI, JEDI has signed up to the DIA Code of Conduct so that anybody using the
facility should be reassured that they are receiving a professional service.
